The Frederick Branch has two active interest groups at this time.  They are the Book Group, and the Bridge Group.

The Book Group
The Branch's book group meets monthly, usually on the 3rd Saturday afternoon of the month, to discuss books read by the members.

The format is unique in this area.  Rather than read a selected book, the group chooses by consensus a topic to read about and discuss.  Recent examples include Shakespeare, Dan Brown, the founding fathers and mothers, journalists and news reporters, Egypt , cats and horses and horse racing.  Each member chooses a book related to the topic and reports on it to the group.  Reports are informal, and may include critiques or retellings.

The advantage of this type of book group is that members frequently trade books and recommend further reading for one another.  The members feel that they get a broader experience while exploring their own particular interests.

The Bridge Group
A dedicated group of players meets in the home of a member to play, snack and converse.  This interest group has been active for greater than 20 years, and has given regular donations to the Education Foundation.
